Hello all,
I just took delivery of a Star Resizer and 45 cal ACP NOE mould. Some of you might have heard of the latest fad to powder coat bullets in lieu of lubing. My question is if you have done this does not running lube in the Star sizer/Luber reduce the life of the die? I would not think so since lead bullet on steel die would not seem to hurt the die, but thought I would ask first. Thanks,

I haven't done it myself, but I have a friend who has experimented quite a bit with the technique. He says the plastic coating acts as a lube and if properly applied remains on the bullet after sizing. He says the force applied during sizing is about the same as with standard bullet lubes. Of course the amount of force depends on the alloy and the amount of sizing done.
He has not seen and does not expect any additional wear on the die.

I have sized 500-600 powder coated 9mm in my Star sizer, with no wear that I can see. Works great, and keeps everything clean.
