Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / SWC overall length
« on: November 27, 2011, 03:53:48 pm »
Greetings: I am having chambering issues using 200 gr SWC in a 1911. The loaded round hits the feed ramp and pops up at a 45 degree angle well before the rim is caught by the extractor. It jams solidly at this angle. Am I seating the bullets too deep? Does anyone know what OAL the loaded cartridge should be to feed properly? Thanks for any help you can give.

Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Setting the taper crimper

Is there a method of setting up the taper crimp die for 45? I pulled a few bullets from reloaded rounds and found lines on them from the shell rim (jacketed SWC). Maybe the die is set too low? thanks.

Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Difficult primer seating
« on: July 11, 2011, 08:20:37 pm »
I fired my Universal up after 20 years of storage. I checked everything out first, and the primer seating anvil looks fine, no binding, etc. Does anyone know why once fired Federal brass (45 ACP) binds the machine up resulting in no primer being seated? Even primers that seat correctly seem to take a little more pressure than what I remember (maybe I was stronger 20 yrs ago!). Any thoughts? Thanks.
