Glad you got an answer.   Sorry I couldn't help you out.  I've been working on a big project and just didn't have time to root around for the Hoyer that I have.

Wayne,

I have the powder drop tubes in stock.   Technically 9mm uses the standard size drop tube.   I have that, but I also have the drop tubes used for 32 S&W and 30 Carbine, which are smaller diameter.   $20 plus shipping for either.

I have a Hoyer in a box somewhere.   I don't know if it's complete.   I'll take a look and compare it to yours.

Nice South Bend by the way.

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Re: Question on Powder Coating and Star Sizer
« on: September 17, 2014, 10:26:19 pm »
I haven't done it myself, but I have a friend who has experimented quite a bit with the technique.   He says the plastic coating acts as a lube and if properly applied remains on the bullet after sizing.  He says the force applied during sizing is about the same as with standard bullet lubes.   Of course the amount of force depends on the alloy and the amount of sizing done.

He has not seen and does not expect any additional wear on the die.

Star Reloaders / Re: Serial Numbers on Lifetyme Dies ?
« on: September 08, 2014, 09:43:20 am »
I just came across another Lifetyme oddity.    I have a 41 Magnum die that is marked .4275 in the area between the logo band and the threads.

I have two other Lifetyme 41 Magnum dies, neither so marked.   The ID of the sizing ring is slightly larger than the ring on one of the dies, but the same as the other.

This summer I traveled to California for a wedding and visited my in-Laws in San Diego County.   I just had to make the pilgrimage to 418 10th Street.    Unfortunately, I was too late.  The Star Machine Works building is no more.   A condominium building is being constructed in its place.

The site is just a couple blocks from PetCo Stadium where the Padres play.   It was game day....which explains the police and barricades.

I offer both standard length (13 inches) and Long (15 1/4 inch) primer magazines and follower rods to match.  The 15 1/4" primer magazines easily hold 100 primers.

Primer Magazines, Standard Length or Long version are $35 each.

Primer Follower Rods, standard or long are $15 each.

I also offer primer pickup tubes, both standard length (~9") and long versions which hold 100 primers.

Standard and Long Small Primer Pick up tubes are $10 each.

Standard and Long Large Primer Pick up tubes are $15 each.

Plus shipping of course.   StarMachineWorks at ptd dot net

Star Reloaders / Re: Serial Numbers on Lifetyme Dies ?
« on: August 03, 2014, 02:24:06 pm »
I checked all of the Lifetyme dies I have and I did find two that have what appears to be a serial number.   Both have a roll mark with a PK in an oval (Paul Knepp?).  One has a PAT PEND in the role mark.   One has an upside down role mark the other is not.    The two "serial numbers" are different, lending more credence to the idea that they actually are serial numbers.

The numbers are 15538886 and 94838179

I can't imagine the numbers are sequential.   I would guess there is a date code buried in those numbers

With a 1/2" powder slide you would need a hole size of 0.487" to drop 23.5 grains of Win 296.   While that is possible with a 1/2" powder slide, I may not be able to get there with the ones that I offer.   The 1/2" powder slides that I sell have a bushing in a 1/2" hole.   The bushing would have a wall thickness of and the 0.013".   I could probably do it, but that's getting pretty thin.   The slide without a bushing (1/2" hole) would drop 24.75 grains of Win 296.

If you find a 1/2" or 5/8" powder slide marked for 20.5 grains of 2400, it should give you 23.5 grains of Win 296.

I'll send a PM with details on how to contact me about the other items if you need them.

You should be able to use the 44 Special Dies for 44 Magnum.   In fact the Lifetyme carbide sizing die probably says 44 Spl/Mag.   You will need a different top plate for your case feeder.   You need an M3A which is for Magnum length cases.   It looks like you have an M3 installed.    I have M3A's if you don't find one with the rest of the parts.  I also have a solution for you for case feeder tube.

5/8" powder slide are generally used for 44 Magnum, but depending on your charge you might be able to use a 1/2" powder slide.   I sell 1/2" powder slides along with spacers to convert the powder slide housing so it can handle the 1/2" powder slide.   I plan to make 5/8" powder slides in the future, but probably won't be till this winter.

What is your Mag load.   I can tell you if you can do it with a 1/2" powder slide or if you need a 5/8" Slide.
